Deputies: 3-year-old child dies after being left in hot car
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The Richland County Sheriff’s Department said a 3-year-old child died after being left in a hot car on Friday afternoon.
Family members called to report the child was missing, according to the department.
Deputies responded to the 1000 block of Parliament Lake Drive, near Windsor Lake Boulevard, at around 1 p.m. to begin investigating. When deputies arrived, they found the 3-year-old child in a hot vehicle.
According to a news release from the sheriff’s department, deputies rendered aid and transported the child to a local hospital where they were later pronounced dead.
As of 4:45 p.m., deputies were still working the scene.
Temperatures in Columbia on Friday were in the upper 80s.
