FIRST ALERT: We now have a tropical depression
Watch our 2026 hurricane special, “The 5th Season” in the video above this story.
Tropical Wave 92-L has now become Tropical Depression 9. The winds are below 39mph and when it goes up over 39mph it becomes a tropical storm.

Our next name is Isaias, and here’s a pronouncer that you can use. If you remember we had the same named system in 2020.

The National Hurricane Center has the system increasing in strength as it moves north. It even becomes a category 2 hurricane. This will be the first hurricane of this season!

This disturbance could bring additional moisture into the Carolinas, leading to increased rain chances this weekend. We’ve gone up to a 70% chance Sunday.

The Atlantic Hurricane Season continues through November 30th.
