Richland County man arrested after narcotics transaction, deputy pursuit

DENTSVILLE, S.C. (WIS) - The Richland County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man in connection with a drug deal that resulted in a chase.

Jason Boykin, 39, was arrested on Monday after deputies witnessed a narcotics transaction on Roof Street. Boykin fled from deputies after they attempted to speak with him. He drove until stopping at a dead end in the Hileah Drive area and fled from the car. Deputies chased Boykin on foot until they caught him.

Boykin was taken to the hospital for medical attention after appearing under the influence of narcotics. He will be taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center after he is cleared from the hospital.

He is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, failure to stop for blue lights, and driving under suspension.

Boykin was also wanted by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department for failure to pay child support. Officials said Boykin may receive more charges.
