INTERVIEW: Columbia Fireflies’ Synchronized Hippos Night at Segra Park

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The Columbia Fireflies are turning a Jeopardy! question from a February episode into a theme night tonight at Segra Park.

The question asked: “In late spring, Congaree National Park in South Carolina is famous for its nightly display of synchronized these?” Contestant Lauren Vincent answered “hippos.”

The Fireflies are turning that moment into Synchronized Hippos Night, which will take place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

• Lauren Vincent will throw the ceremonial first pitch.
• Dancing hippos all game long.
• Players suit up in special Synchronized Hippos jerseys, later auctioned off for Congaree National Park.
• Limited-edition Synchronized Hippos T-shirts — $5 of every sale goes to the park.

John Kocis with the Fireflies joined WIS to talk about the event.
