WIS TV, Gray Media to broadcast SC GOP gubernatorial debates
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - WIS TV and Gray Media have partnered with the South Carolina Republican Party to broadcast and livestream a series of gubernatorial debates across South Carolina.
Voters will hear from several candidates as they make their case ahead of the June 9 primary election. A new South Carolina governor will be elected in November 2026, as current Governor Henry McMaster will have reached the end of his term limit.
The debates will be held on the following dates and locations, all from 7-8 p.m.
- March 17 | Conway, SC
- April 21 | Charleston, SC
- May 26 | Spartanburg, SC
- June 16 | Newberry, SC (If necessary because of a runoff)
“These debates will help people become educated about the choices they’ll have in the primary,” said WHNS Vice President and General Manager Bryce Caldwell. “Plus, with Gray stations covering viewers in every corner of South Carolina, no other media in the state can serve voters like this.”
WIS’s very own Judi Gatson will serve as one of the moderators for these debates, along with anchors from our sister stations.
“The coming election represents the first truly open governor’s race for Republicans since 2010, and we’re looking forward to creating an opportunity for all South Carolinians to hear from our candidates as they consider who to support in the coming campaign,” said South Carolina GOP Chairman Drew McKissick.
