Lexington County Fire Service provides tips for Fire Prevention Month
LEXINGTON, S.C. (WIS) - The Lexington County Fire Service shared fire safety measures with residents in honor of Fire Prevention Month.
This year’s National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Fire Prevention Week campaign, “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower,” encourages safe use of lithium-ion batteries in the home.
Lexington County Deputy Fire Marshall Nick Uveges reminds citizens to focus on safe use, charging and disposal of rechargeable batteries found in everyday devices.
“As far as appliances and other things that are used daily, the best source that you can use in order to find out if you’re doing what you’re supposed to do is following the manufacturer’s specifications and recommendations that are provided with those appliances,” Uveges said.
LCFS firefighters plan to visit local schools, meet with community groups and participate in neighborhood events to teach children and families about fire safety throughout October.
