Jurors grim as they view photos of Carlie Brucia's body

(Sarasota, Florida-AP) Nov. 10, 2005 - Pictures of a kidnapped Sarasota, Florida, girl and the site where her body was found have been reviewed by jurors deciding the case against the man accused in her rape and strangling.

Carlie Brucia, 11, was kidnapped in February last year. The actual abduction was captured on a security camera video.

The judge ruled in favor of an attorney representing defendant Joseph Smith that jurors needn't see graphic pictures of her decomposed remains.

The 39-year-old Smith is a former auto mechanic and father of three daughters. He's charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping and capital sexual battery.

If convicted, he may face the death penalty.
