WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - The economic reports from the Trump administration point to a solid economy. But poll after poll finds Americans do not think the economy is in good shape.

As the 2026 midterm elections approach, the Trump administration keeps insisting the economy is doing great.

The polls keep showing that Americans think the economy is doing badly.

Gray Media’s White House correspondent Jon Decker asked President Donald Trump on Tuesday about a key economic indicator, the strength of the US dollar, and whether the dollar has strengthened too much against the euro.

President Trump answered, “Much more a dollar versus the euro right now. No, we have a very strong dollar. That’s because we’re doing well. You know, a strong dollar is good in many ways. In certain ways you could make a case that it slows things down, but a strong dollar gives you a lot of life. And by the way, you know, what a strong dollar does gives you no inflation.”

President Trump’s message is that things are coming together for a golden age of America; even as Americans worry about rising prices at the pump and the grocery store.
