COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - South Carolina will come into the 2026 college football season unranked.

The Gamecocks, who finished 4-8 last season, were outside of the top 25 in the Associated Press’s preseason poll that was released Monday.

South Carolina did receive 10 votes from pollsters. Archrival Clemson, meanwhile, was just five votes short of being included in the preseason rankings.

Ohio State, Oregon, Georgia, Notre Dame and Texas all rounded out the top five, respectively. Defending national champion Indiana was sixth.

South Carolina opens the season Sept. 5 at home against Kent State.
