Court denies bond for one of four arrested in 2025 fatal Columbia shooting
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A suspect in a fatal 2025 shooting has been denied bond during a court hearing on Wednesday.
The hearing was held for Sa’riya Green, one of four arrested in a fatal shooting in June 2025 that killed 17-year-old Jayson Cooke.
According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, the shooting was the result of a “drug deal gone bad.”
On Wednesday, prosecutors formally requested that bond be denied. During the hearing, a statement was delivered on behalf of the family by Cooke’s mother, Regina Reed, who also asked the judge to deny bond.

After considering the arguments and statements, the judge denied bond, citing the defendant as a “potential danger to the community.”
Authorities also arrested 20-year-old Makenzie Shine, 18-year-old Elon Williams, and a minor in connection with the shooting.
According to the Richland County Clerk of Court, Shine was denied bond in early January.
Williams’ defense attorney filed a motion for bond in December 2025, but there have been no court appearances since then, and no bond has been set.
Officials say there is no information about the minor at this time.
