Health U: Volunteer Appreciation Month

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) -April is volunteer appreciation month, celebrating those who spend their time helping others. Abigail is joined by veteran volunteer at Lexington Medical Center, Lynda Pitman to hear her story.

After her husband had surgery and she had recently retired, she said it was a pretty immediate decision. Pitman has worked in 15 different departments, but spends most of her volunteer days in the surgical lobby, helping patients and family members.

Pitman says, “I feel like if I can do any one small thing to make somebody smile, to make them laugh, I feel like my day has been a success.”
