(Charleston-AP) November 29, 2006 - The Charleston County School Board has voted to open its meetings with a prayer instead of a moment of silence.
Former congressman and state lawmaker Arthur Ravenel Junior is a new member of the board.
He says the board is probably the only public body in Charleston County that does not open meetings with a prayer or invocation.
The 4th US Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled the Great Falls Town Council could not invoke the name of Jesus Christ's name at government meetings.
