Ohio State student pinned and killed by elevator

(Columbus, Ohio-AP) October 21, 2006 - Police say an Ohio State University student was pinned by an elevator in a campus dormitory and suffocated.
Eighteen-year-old Andrew Polakowski was the last person in a group of students to enter the third-floor elevator Friday night when it unexpectedly began to descend with the doors open.
Police say Polakowski was pinned when he tried to escape through a gap between the top of the elevator and the third floor.
The coroner says Polakowski had chest and abdominal injuries, and the student died of mechanical asphyxia.
Police say the death appears to be an accident, but they're continuing to investigate.
