Beloved SC DNR officer Bickley, Jr. laid to rest Monday

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Longtime South Carolina Department of Natural Resources officer Staff Sgt. Rhett Bickley, Jr. passed away last week.

The beloved officer served more than 19 years with SCDNR died on July 25. His obituary says he worked in various capacities at SC DNR and was most recently assigned to the SCDNR's investigations section, aiding the navigation and dive teams in their work.

"SSG Bickley never met a stranger and will be remembered for his friendly demeanor and genuine personality," his obituary said.

Bickley, a Clemson University alumnus and U.S. Army veteran, was laid to rest on Monday. He is survived by his parents, his wife, Ashley, and his stepson, Dylan, in addition to other family members.

A number of agencies have posted their condolences on social media.
