COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The Richland County Sheriff’s Department and Columbia International University teamed up to announce the grand opening of a new headquarters for Region 3 of the Sheriff’s Department.
The new substation is part of a revitalization project on the Monticello Road corridor near CIU, aiming to transform the area into a commercial district.
This new substation on Monticello Road will lead to a much more visible law enforcement presence in the area.
Deputies in Region 3 have been based out of the Denny Terrace Community Center. The Training Division and Youth Services will continue to operate there.
Region 3 deputies started working in the new building on Monticello Road on Thursday.
