Clemson now finds themselves one step closer to reaching their second straight College Football Playoff.
This week, the Tigers climb one spot in the College Football Playoff rankings to No. 3. Clemson capped rivalry weekend with a dominant 56-7 win over South Carolina. Now, Dabo Swinney’s team take aim at their second consecutive ACC title when they face Virginia Tech this weekend in Orlando.
Still atop the poll is Alabama. Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide defeated Auburn 30-12 last weekend. The SEC West champions will now head to Atlanta to face Jim McElwain and the SEC East champion Florida Gators on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Remaining in the second spot in this week’s poll is Ohio State. The Buckeyes came away with a hard-fought 30-27 victory over Michigan, which dropped the Wolverines down to No. 5 this week. However, Urban Meyer’s team will not be playing in this weekend’s Big Ten title game. Instead, it’ll be No. 6 Wisconsin taking on No. 7 Penn State for the title in Indianapolis.
Also moving up in the poll this week is Washington. The Huskies blew out Washington State 45-17 for the Apple Cup. Now, Washington will battle Colorado for the Pac-12 championship at 9 p.m. on Saturday in Santa Clara, CA.
