LEXINGTON, SC (WIS) - A historic 18th-century home in Lexington has been saved from demolition and is now awaiting a big move.

The Cooger Meetze House, located on Laurel Ridge Lane, will be moved about two miles away from its current location to West Main Street.

The company that bought the property pledged a $10,000 donation to help with costs. Groups working to save the home raised $6,000 as well.

Historic preservationists say it's an irreplaceable landmark and a symbol of the rich history of Lexington.

Organizers are still working to determine when the move will take place.
