CPD officers arrest two in weekend armed robberies

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Columbia police officers have arrested two men in connection with a pair of armed robberies over the weekend.

Officers were flagged down by three men who reported being robbed while at the 1700 block of Blanding Street Saturday, April 4 at around 1 a.m.

According to police Bermonte Gilmore and Deandre Kinlaw pointed guns at the three men and demanded their wallets, credit cards, jewelry, cell phones and sunglasses.

Shortly after that incident, a similar armed robbery occurred near the same area.

In this case, an officer witnessed a man pointing a gun at another victim. When the suspect saw the officer, he is accused of running away, but soon surrendering.

Gilmore is charged in both crimes and was arrested for Four Counts of Armed Robbery, Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol, and Two Counts of Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime, and Criminal Conspiracy.

Kinlaw is charged with one of the crimes. He was arrested for Armed Robbery and Criminal Conspiracy.

Officers recovered a weapon and stolen items during the arrests.

Both Gilmore and Kinlaw were booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
