COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -
Columbia Police have arrested a man on an assault charge after a fight that left another man in critical condition.
Police charged 34-year-old Joseph Green with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
Investigators say Green got into an argument with a man at Broad River Terrace Apartments on Lucius Rd. During the argument, police say Green punched the man in the head, when he fell to the ground and was knocked unconscious.
Police say the victim needed emergency surgery at a local hospital where officials say he is in critical condition due to massive head trauma.
Green is held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
