(RNN) – The attorney for George Zimmerman said that the surveillance video of Zimmerman at the Sanford Police Department does not prove nor disprove Zimmerman's claims of being attacked by 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

In the video obtained by ABC News of George Zimmerman the night he allegedly shot and killed Martin, Zimmerman shows no obvious signs of injury despite of claims the two fought before he pulled the trigger.

"It's a very grainy video," said attorney Craig Sonner on the Today show Thursday morning. Sonner went on to say that the video needs to be examined and restated that his client was treated and cleaned up at the scene.

According to a police report first described in the Orlando Sentinel, Zimmerman told officers that Martin pounded his head into a sidewalk and punched him in the nose.

The video shows the neighborhood watch captain getting out of a police car at the station, hands cuffed behind his back. He's patted down and searched by an officer, who does briefly look at the back of head, and then is lead inside. Zimmerman appeared a few pounds lighter than the mug shot when he was arrested in 2005.

Sonner does not know if there is photo evidence of Zimmerman with a bloodied nose or if the shirt he was wearing in the video is the same shirt he was wearing during the altercation with Martin.

"Until there are charges are filed on this case, all evidence the police have on this case, they don't have to give it me," Sonner said. "I can't force law enforcement to give to me. They may be giving it to the news media before they give it to me."

The release of this video comes after George Zimmerman's father, Robert Zimmerman, told WOFL in Orlando, FL, that Martin threatened and beat his son, and that he acted in self defense. Robert Zimmerman said race had nothing to do with the incident.

Robert Zimmerman spoke to the television station with his identity obscured because he feared for his safety.

Robert Zimmerman also claimed that Martin broke George Zimmerman's nose, however he was not present at the incident. On the surveillance video, George Zimmerman's nose does not appear bloodied, but he was treated by EMT's at the scene of the shooting.

Sybrina Fulton, Martin's mother, told CNN that the video adds to the evidence that her son was killed unjustly.

"I believe that this video is the icing on the cake," she said. "This is not the first part of the evidence that they have had. They have had the 911 tapes and they have also have witnesses. This is in addition to what the Sanford Police Department has always had. There is no problem with this case and he needs to be arrested."

Earlier this week, information about Martin's school record surfaced. Miami school officials released his disciplinary record showing that he had been suspended from high school when he was killed. Other reports say school officials found an empty bag that contained marijuana residue.

Zimmerman allegedly shot and killed Martin on Feb. 26 after calling 911 to report a suspicious person in his neighborhood. Martin was unarmed, carrying Skittles, ice tea, and was wearing a hoodie which has become a symbol of support for the teenager.

Police did not arrest Zimmerman because of a Florida law that allows the use of deadly force if the person defending themselves fears for their life. However, the lead investigator did want to charge Zimmerman with manslaughter, but was overruled by state's attorney, Norman Wolfinger, who said the evidence would not support the charge.

The case is under investigation by the state and the U.S. Justice Department.
