Police: Brother killed brother in fight over inheritance
NORTH AUGUSTA, SC (WIS) - Neighbors are beginning to speak out about two brothers involved in a deadly fight over their mother's will.
As many of us know, family relationships can get intense -- especially when a family member dies and a will comes into play.
Investigators say Paul Hett admitted to killing his brother after the two got into a fight.
North Augusta police found David Hett dead in his home Monday night. Friends say David and Paul were fighting over the money left to them when their mother passed away.
Investigators says Paul used an axe's wooden handle to hit his brother over his head. One of the victim's friends describes how she found his body.
"I came up to the window and I pounded like this and said David, David, and then I lifted up the window and I smelled this stench that smelled horrible," the woman said.
In the will, all of their mother's assets were to go to Paul Hett, the man in jail. It said David Hett, the man who died, would receive just one dollar.
Paul Hett is charged with murder.
