COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - As WIS says goodbye to Sunrise co-anchor Hannah Horne, the station has announced that weekend news anchor Kara Gormley will be filling in as co-anchor on the Midlands' most-watched morning newscast.

Hannah first came to Columbia in 2000 to produce newscasts at WIS, and her talents soon led her to the anchor desk.  As co-anchor of WIS News 10 Sunrise, she has helped WIS maintain its #1 standing in the 5 to 7am time period, and also has co-anchored WIS News 10 Midday.

Hannah will be staying in Columbia and taking a position with the South Carolina Film Commission.  "We are very sorry to lose her," said WIS News Director Tina Luque-Blacklocke, "but we're glad that she's staying in Columbia, and that South Carolina will still benefit from her abilities."

Kara Gormley has anchored the weekend 6 and 11pm newscasts on WIS since 2002, and has also distinguished herself on a number of high-profile reporting assignments. She has received several honors, including an Edward R. Murrow Award for a story on the investigation into the case of a woman who police say was tortured at the hands of her ex-husband.

Kara has also received investigative and feature reporting awards from the Associated Press and the South Carolina Broadcasters Association.

Kara is cutting short her maternity leave to return to Sunrise, which was one of her first assignments after arriving at WIS in the 1990s.  She and her husband, Banks Meador, are now the proud parents of two boys, young Evan and his older brother, Dalton.
