BLYTHEWOOD, SC (WIS) - The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV) announced Friday that the Pageland field office will close as of December 1, 2007.
The Chesterfield County office currently operates one day a week.
"The Pageland office has never been a full service facility and office activity is frequently low. It's also located in an older building that is in need of some repair. When you consider the cost of repairs with the low activity, it makes good business sense to close it," said SCDMV Executive Director Marcia Adams in a written news release.
Employees at the Pageland office are assigned to other SCDMV offices in the area. Once the office closes, those employees will work full time in other offices.
Citizens seeking motor vehicle services in the area may visit SCDMV full service offices located in Chesterfield, Lancaster and Bennettsville.
SCDMV customers also have the option of processing many transactions online at the agency website.
