(Myrtle Beach-AP) February 2, 2007 - A 15-year veteran of the Horry County Police force has resigned after he was charged with soliciting prostitution.
Investigators say 41-year-old James Kenneth Kirkley paid for sex at least four times last year while on duty.
Horry County police and the State Law Enforcement Division began investigating Kirkley after receiving a tip from the county jail.
Kirkley is charged with misconduct in office and four counts of solicitation of prostitution.
Police Chief Johnny Morgan says Kirkley had been an excellent officer with no reprimands or other disciplinary problems.
