(Spartanburg-AP) December 1, 2006 - A man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing and raping a woman in her Spartanburg County beauty shop more than ten years ago.

A jury took just 20 minutes Thursday to find 28-year-old Jonothan Vick guilty of murder, kidnapping and criminal sexual conduct.

The body of Roebuck hairdresser Dana Satterfield was found in the bathroom of her beauty shop trailer in 1995. Testimony indicated Satterfield was beaten, strangled with a purse strap and left hanging from a water heater.

Prosecutor Trey Gowdy says Vick was 17 at the time of the crime and was not eligible for the death penalty.

A former classmate of Vick's told authorities that Vick had told him he was going to Satterfield's shop the night she was killed and thought he could convince her to have sex with him.
