Armed man attacks school in Germany

(Berlin-AP) November 20, 2006 - Eight people were hurt Monday when a masked gunmen stormed a high school in northwestern Germany and opened fire with a handgun.

Police say the incident ended with the death of the gunmen but it's not clear whether the man was killed by police or killed himself. They do say some explosives were found near his body.

A broadcast report identifies the assailant as an 18-year-old former student at the school in the town of Emsdetten , near the Dutch border.

Police says several students and a teacher are among those wounded. All the injuries are described as minor.
