(Richland County) September 22, 2006 - A teaching assistant at Summit Parkway Middle School in Northeast Richland County is facing charges of exposing himself to a minor and commiting a lewd act on a 12-year-old student.

"It's kind of scary to know a guy like that is living next door," says a neighbor who lives near the school and right next door to 33-year-old Jack Mcneil. McNeil is the teacher's aid charged with allegedly "esposing his private parts to [a student]."

A few miles up the road, McNeil's 15-year-old neighbor says, "he seems like a pretty nice guy, didn't know he'd be in something like this."

WIS tried asking McNeil about the charges, but he wasn't home. His wife wouldn't go on camera, but says she's devastated.

Investigators say Jack McNeil took the victim into a closet, on multiple occasions, between December 2005 and May of 2006. That's where they say McNeil touched, rubbed and kissed the 12-year-old girl.

The child's mother told the school resource officer and principal, and McNeil was arrested.

One neighbor said, " that doesn't make me feel comfortable. As neighbors I'm glad somebody's coming out to alert us."

McNeil's wife says her husband is away for the weekend, and that he's already been suspended from Summitt Parkway Middle School.
