Police: Charlotte dad kills one son, wounds second, commits suicide

(Charlotte, NC-AP) June 15, 2006 - Investigators are trying to figure out what prompted a father to allegedly shoot his two young sons, then kill himself, in their North Carolina home.

Authorities say Mark Minor killed the 10-year-old. The eight-year-old remains hospitalized, but there's no word on his condition.

Minor's boss describes him as a dependable worker who'd spoken recently of problems at home.

Friends and co-workers said Minor and his wife, Grace, had been having problems. A relative said Grace Minor was in the process of getting a divorce.

The shootings happened about five miles from the scene of another horrible crime. Earlier this year, twin five-year-old girls were stabbed to death in their home, allegedly by their father.

Both that family and the Minor family attended the same church.
