(Columbia-AP) March 28, 2006 - A woman in Myrtle Beach was the first to receive a legal tattoo in South Carolina Tuesday.

Ivey Ridders, 30, received a tattoo of a daisy on her right foot, making her the first person to obtain a legal tattoo in the state.

Before Tuesday, South Carolina and Oklahoma were the only two states to outlaw tattooing.

The Department of Health and Environmental Control gave approval for Body Art Ink Tattoos in Myrtle Beach to open. The facility will be allowed to serve up to four clients at one time.

Legislators lifted the state's ban on tattoos about two years ago and regulations were approved earlier this year.

DHEC spokesman Thom Berry says four other applications for tattoo parlors are pending.
