TV content ratings - what do they mean?

(National) March 1, 2006 - Ever wonder about the TV content ratings displayed in the upper left corner of your screen?

The "TV Parental Guidelines", as they're officially known, are designed to help parents regulate the content of programs that come into the home. Each program, except for news and certain other shows, is rated according the age and maturity of the audience it's most appropriate for.
