COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - With Hurricane Florence making its way towards South Carolina, the game between USC and Marshall has been canceled.
"Whether or not the game could have been played, we made the decision we think is best for the state and those who are evacuating the coast," said Gamecock Athletics Director Ray Tanner. "There is no question this is the right thing to do and the decision was supported by President Pastides, Coach Muschamp, our Board members and myself."
Officials have confirmed refunds will be issued for tickets from the Marshall game.
The Gamecocks will look for a chance to play a 12th game later this season. South Carolina will return to action at Vanderbilt on Sept. 22 at 4 p.m.
