Man accused of assaulting 72-year-old arrested

(WIS) - A suspect who was wanted for assaulting a 72-year-old has been arrested.

The Richland County Sheriff's Department took David Simpson, 32, into custody Sept. 11. Simpson's charges include assault and 2nd-degree battery.

Charges stem from an altercation reported to investigators on August 2, by a 72-year-old victim admitted to Richland Memorial Hospital. The victim stated that following a verbal altercation over money, Simpson physically assaulted him and caused serious injury to his upper body.

Simpson turned himself over to deputies without incident and was taken to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
