Highway 378 in Lexington reopened after gas leak shut down all lanes

LEXINGTON, SC (WIS) - Highway 378 in Lexington is back open to drivers after officials closed the entire roadway due to a gas leak.

Officials say the gas leak happened at the 100 block of US-378. The Lexington County Fire Service was on the scene to assist the Lexington Police Department.

Detours were put in place, but traffic congestion proved to still be an issue. Drivers were urged to avoid the area if possible.

The gas leak also caused children at the Academy of Lexington Youth Ballet and Genova Family Karate to shelter in place until the scene is secure. Parents and guardians were able to reunite with their kids once the scene was clear.
