One person killed in Broad River Road crash

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The Richland County Coroner has released the identity of the person killed in a late Wednesday night collision that is now under investigation by the Columbia Police Department.

The victim was identified as Ontarius Lavel Kelley, 24, of Columbia. The coroner said an examination revealed Kelley's cause of death to be probable blunt head trauma.

It happened just before 11:30 p.m. at 1500 Broad River Road.

Investigators say a 24-year-old man was speeding in a Honda Civic when he crashed into the back of a stopped Jeep Wrangler. The impact caused the Wrangler to crash into the rear of another car.

The driver of the Honda was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. His identity has not been released by the Richland County Coroner at this time.
