(WIS) - Ahead of this Friday's high school football games, Lexington-Richland 5 school officials announced new safety measures.

Last Friday, stands at Dutch Fork High school were evacuated after someone yelled that there was a gun in the crowd. Richland County deputies say no shots were fired and no gun was found, but the stadium was evacuated as a precaution.

The school district now says officers will use handheld metal detectors to screen all spectators. Bags will be subject to searches and admission will be charged through the duration of the games.

All students 8th grade or younger will have to attend games with parents.

Additionally, school resource officers will travel with teams to away games,
