Construction Co. fined for workplace death

LUGOFF, SC (WIS) - An Occupational Safety and Health Administration investigation released today revealed a construction company will be fined in relation to an employee death.

In February, 45-year-old Larry Durney was working on a roof in Lugoff for Basic Construction LLC.

A gust of wind blew a piece of unsecured metal roofing into Durney who fell almost 40 feet.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to OSHA, the company will be fined $2,800 for failing to protect from fall hazards and another $1,500 for failing to properly train employees.
