Clarendon County residents remember former-sheriff Randy Garrett after his passing

CLARENDON COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Hearts are heavy in Clarendon County after the Clarendon County Sheriff's Department announced the passing of former Clarendon County sheriff, Randy Garrett.

Garrett was elected to the sheriff's office in 2008 after serving more than 10 years as Manning police chief. He lost the primary race in 2016 to current-Clarendon County Sheriff Tim Baxley.

Social media posts about the former sheriff began pouring in Saturday night and continued into Sunday. Residents expressed just how much the sheriff meant to them and how sad they are to let him go.

Saturday night, Garrett's body was moved back to Manning, SC where the Stephens Funeral Home will be handling his funeral services. Visitation for Garrett will be on Tuesday, August 28.
