SC politicians remember, pay respects to Sen. John McCain

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The entire county is remembering the late Arizona Senator John McCain.

McCain, the 81-year-old Republican and war hero passed away after a battle with cancer on Saturday, just one day after announcing that he'd end treatment. 

A number of notable South Carolina lawmakers have taken to social media to share their condolences.

Sen. Tim Scott

Major Steve Benjamin

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, former SC Governor Nikki Haley

Gov. Henry McMaster

McMaster has ordered all flags in South Carolina at half-staff the day of the late senator's funeral.

President Donald Trump even sent his condolences to the McCain family via Twitter. The pair have shared terse words in the last few years, with McCain even saying he would not want to 45th president attending his funeral.
