(WIS) - City of Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin honored Beyonce and Jay-Z with the key to the city on Tuesday.

The recognition comes with their "On the Run II Tour" stop in Columbia at Williams-Brice Stadium. Mayor Benjamin said on Twitter that the concert date "was officially Beyonce Knowles Carter and Shawn Carter Day" in the city.

Mayor Benjamin honored the couple for their humanitarian and cultural contributions.

"Beyoncé and Jay-Z have contributed tremendously to not only popular culture and the entertainment industry but also to humanitarian aid in the United States and around the world," Mayor Benjamin said. "We're delighted to proclaim this day in their name and give them yet another reason to come back to our city."
