WHITMIRE, SC (WIS) - Two men and a woman were arrested in Newberry County as part of an ongoing drug investigation.

Stephen Santis, Robert Dilleshaw, Jr., and Amie Prince were arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute meth, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Newberry County deputies along with the Whitmire Police Department served a search warrant on August 10 to a home on Emory Street where Santis and Dilleshaw resided. After searching the home, officials found more than one gram of meth and a small amount of marijuana.

According to Newberry County Sheriff Lee Forster, the investigation into activities happening at this home had been going on for months. Authorities used undercover operatives, surveillance, and intelligence gathering techniques to collect the evidence needed for the search warrant. Plus, Foster noted that several complaints were submitted by residents in the community about activity taking place at the home.

"So many times, people think that because they do not see law enforcement that nothing is being done," said Sheriff Foster. "They level of proof required by the judicial system needed to obtain a search warrant and to ensure a conviction is very high in today's world. These investigations take time because we do not want to just stop with the arrest. We want to make sure that we have proper evidence to ensure a conviction and we want to identify other players in the illegal operations. Too often investigations are jeopardized by well-intended citizens that let information out about investigations. This will cause an investigation to cease, pause, or be expedited before more people can be identified."

Officials said the three suspects remain in custody.
