(WIS) - A bill aimed at decreasing penalties for those who litter will officially get Governor Henry McMaster's signature on Wednesday.

The Littering Bill lowers fines for littering to a minimum of $25 dollars and maximum of $100.

Before, fines were at least $200, which some say made law enforcement hesitant to issue tickets. Supporters hope that lowering the fines will give officers and judges more discretion to punish litterbugs.

The bill went into effect back in May. Today's signing is simply ceremonial.

It will be held at 2 p.m.
