Former Midlands detention center officer charged with domestic violence

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) - A Lexington man has lost his job at the Lexington County Sheriff's Department after he was charged with third-degree domestic violence.

Timothy Lane Padgett, 29, was arrested by SLED agents for engaging in a physical altercation with his wife at their home on Wyoming Road on Sunday.

Ther sheriff's department sites an arrest warrant, which says Padgett's wife suffered injuries to her arm and eye.

Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon terminated Padgett Monday morning for violating department policy. Padgett was hired as a deputy sheriff Jan. 7, 2013.

Padgett remains in custody pending the results of a medical evaluation ordered by a judge who set a $5,000 personal recognizance bond. SLED will continue to lead the investigation, which is standard procedure.
