COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - WEATHER HIGHLIGHTS:
- Another hot one! Highs middle 90s with a Heat Index of 102
- Few thunderstorms this afternoon with some becoming strong to severe.
- Marginal risk of severe weather for the northern Midlands into the Upstate. Biggest threat would be damaging winds and heavy rain
High pressure will continue to be in charge of the forecast today and tomorrow before a cold front moves into the state by Thursday.
Afternoon showers and thunderstorms will be isolated to scattered between 1 p.m.-10 p.m. Some storms may be strong to severe.
Today will be much like yesterday with hot and humid conditions with a few showers and thunderstorms by late afternoon. However, today it's looking like a small disturbance will ride up and over High pressure. This will increase the risk of strong to severe thunderstorms for the northern Midlands to the Pee Dee.
The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has the northern Midlands, Upstate, Pee Dee into NC under a "Marginal Risk" of severe weather late this afternoon into the evening. Highs middle 90s and a heat index of 102 degrees.
A better chance of storms comes in by tomorrow into the weekend with the cold front.
