LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) - The Lexington County Coroner has identified the man whose vehicle crashed into a pond on Sunday.

The coroner's office has identified the victim as 56-year-old Michael Lynn Martin, of Ridge Spring. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Martin was traveling west on Park Road on Sunday around 6:20 p.m. when his vehicle left the ride side of the roadway and overturned into a pond.

Martin, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, was removed from the submerged vehicle by bystanders who attempted life-saving measures on him until first responders arrived.

The preliminary results of the autopsy performed Monday state that Martin's death was likely natural causes.

The accident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
