Police: Suspect in West Cola double murder arrested, shot victims in the back of the head during robbery

WEST COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The suspect wanted in the triple shooting at the New Brookland Apartments in West Columbia earlier this month has been arrested.

Damien Lavar Ritter 25, of Estill, is charged with two counts of murder, attempted murder, robbery while armed with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm during a violent crime, kidnapping, grand larceny and criminal conspiracy.

Ritter is accused of shooting both Samir Atkins and Elzie Mack in the head during a robbery on July 5. A third suspect was also shot during the Glenn Street incident.

Ritter was named as the only suspect on July 9.

The suspect was booked at the Lexington County Detention Center, where he is currently being held and awaiting bond.
