Two people charged in Orangeburg County robbery
ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Two people in Orangeburg County are behind bars and facing charges in connection to a shooting that took place during a robbery on Sunday.
Shawna Burch, 25, and Benjamin Carr, 23, were both charged with two counts of armed robbery. Carr was also charged with attempted murder and kidnapping.
The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. Two men who believed they were going to a party in the 900 block of Corona Drive were robbed by Burch, Carr and two others who have not been identified. The group robbed them of $500 and other personal items, according to arrest warrants.
The two men were transported to the town of North in their own car by the gunmen. They ordered one of the victims to open a business where he worked. The victim, however, was able to escape his captors. The second victim was shot shortly after.
Deputies say the victim is in stable condition.
Investigators are still searching for two gunmen.
