COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The Columbia Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit is investigating a hit-and-run involving a motorcyclist that happened this past weekend.
Officials said the collision occurred just after 10:30 p.m. on July 7 at the 3800 block of West Beltline Boulevard. The initial investigation said that a 46-year-old man was traveling west on West Beltline when he made contact with another vehicle, which was described as possibly a burgundy sedan with a broken back windshield.
Authorities said the collision caused the motorcyclist to slide sideways across the road before resting at a curb. At last check, the victim was in critical but stable condition at a local hospital.
Officials do not believe the victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
