RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will close a structurally deficient bridge in Richland County for about 15 weeks for repairs.

SCDOT says they plan to replace the Wildflower Road bridge that crosses over Cedar Creek in Richland County.

The bridge will be replaced with a 120-foot pre-stressed concrete bridge. DOT says the bridge will be closed beginning on July 9 and will remain closed until October 22. Traffic will be detoured during the bridge closure. DOT says the current plan for the detour is to use Beckham Road, Sherrill Lever Road, and Wildflower Road. Below is a map showing the planned detour.

DOT says some schools may be impacted by the detour and they will be informed of the pending lane closure in order to reroute school bus traffic in the area.  No major businesses will be closed during the bridge repairs.
