Coroner identifies victim killed in West Columbia apartment complex shooting
WEST COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The Lexington County Coroner has released the identity of the person who was fatally shot at the New Brookland Apartments, located at 925 Glenn Street, in West Columbia on Thursday.
The coroner said Samir Bernard Atkins, 26, of West Columbia was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound to his upper body. Two other people were also shot and transported to a local hospital. One person remains in critical condition while the other received non-life-threatening injuries.
West Columbia Police Assistant Chief Scott Morrison says males were involved in the incident that happened after 2 p.m. and says there are no witnesses other than who was involved in the incident.
