(WIS) - Officials are investigating a string of five armed robberies in the Midlands that they believe are connected.
Two armed robberies occurred at Circle Ks around 3a.m. Wednesday. One happened at the Circle K on 806 Broad River Road and another happened at the Circle K on 1190 Sunset Blvd.
The gas stations are within 6 miles of each other.
The Richland County Sheriff's Department is seeking the public's assistance in identifying two suspects involved. A store clerk said two suspects entered the Broad River Rd. store dressed in black with pull-over hoodies.
One of the suspects was armed with a shotgun. The subjects forced the store clerk to the register and then fled the scene with an unknown amount of cash, according to RCSD.
These robberies come around the same time The Lexington County Sheriff's Department released pictures of three other armed robberies.
"We really want people to take a listen to that because you can change how you look, you can obviously change your clothes, but there isn't much you can do when it comes to changing your voice and how you sound when you're in that situation talking to someone in that way," Adam Myrick with LCSD said.
One armed robbery happened on Leaphart Rd. Another took place on Augusta Rd. and one occurred on Charleston Hwy.
RCSD officials believe that the incidents are connected. All of them appear to have happened within a 20-mile radius.
Officials say the individuals in the surveillance video are wearing similar clothing and investigators even picked up on similar mannerisms.
Circle K made a $1,000 donation to Midlands Crime Stoppers to be paid to anyone providing information that leads to an arrest of any of the suspects involved with the recent armed robberies that have occurred in the Midlands. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Midlands Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
WIS will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
